Course

The race starts by the winning post at Bath Racecourse. Runners do a circuit of the inside of the western lobe of the course, before striking out directly for Prospect Stile. They follow the Cotswold Way down into Weston, and then reverse their course, back up the Cotswold Way to the top of Kelston Round Hill. Taking in glorious views, they descend to a rustic track and make their way along Little Down to the charming village of North Stoke. Turning right, runners pass through the village, past the church and stagger upwards along very rough tracks, before turning sharp right just before the skyline: run along a flat section among the sheep and turn left up a defile to the old hill fort, and along to Prospect Stile again. Repeat the circuit... (Weston-North Stoke) back to Prospect Stile. Then take a sharp left turn back towards the racecourse: repeat two thirds of the circuit of the western lobe of the course, and finish around 100m after the finishing post (not on the course itself, just inside it), next to the crossing.

The course is a two lap course, with steep hills and rough tracks, and a number of stiles and kissing gates. 85% is on rough tracks, 10% on grass and less than 5% on tarmac.

The route involves a total ascent of 526m and 526m of descent. That's tough.

Both laps are run in the same direction.

Although there will be marshals on the course, runners are responsible for completing the course correctly.
